Our Cats & Their Stories

Sassy Leopard

Sassy was owned by an Amish farmer in Topeka, IN who had several exotic animals in a roadside zoo. The man gave up his cats to the EFRC in 2017 because he was getting older and his family did not want to help continue caring for the animals. Sassy lives up to her name, stalking us through the grass and glaring when she gets too much attention. Sassy was overweight upon arrival at the rescue center so she was put on a restricted diet and has her food hidden in her enclosure so she has to work to find it. Sassy started to shed her extra pounds, but then she needed to undergo a spay surgery. After she was spayed, we found it much harder to get the pounds off of her. Sassy is still on her restricted diet (which she so loves) and is still a very active girl. She can be seen stalking guests or climbing on her towers and perches.
