Full-time exotic animal keepers

Keepers at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center are responsible for the daily care and well-being of over 100 exotic felines and must observe and report any abnormalities to supervisor. Daily care consists of cleaning and maintenance of all enclosures, including water tanks, ponds, and buckets. As we are a tour-driven facility, keepers must also maintain a friendly attitude for guests while conducting tours, selling merchandise, or greeting at the entrance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology or other areas relevant to the care of animals

  • Covid-19 Vaccination

  • Be in good physical condition

  • Willing to work in any and all adverse weather conditions

  • Able to lift 60 pounds or more

  • Possess sound judgement in the care of big cats

  • Work cooperatively, communicate well with co-workers, volunteers and supervisors

  • Demonstrate good public relations skills with guests

  • Willing to work weekends and holidays

  • Follow ALL OSHA and EFRC safety rules

Salary commensurate with experience and education, base pay usually starts at $12-13/hr. Interviews are done over two consecutive days and are working in-person interviews.

Summer Tour Guide

  • Being a non-profit rescue center, tours are the main way we raise money for taking care of the big cats. It is also how we educate the public on why these big cats live at the rescue and how we can help exotic cats in the US and the wild.

  • The tour guides are overall responsible for visitor management, public relations, and selling EFRC merchandise. Retail experience preferred, but not required. Must be 18 years or older and have reliable transportation. All tour information and merchandise sale training will be provided upon hire.     Responsibilities:

    - Conduct guided tours of various locations, providing informative and engaging commentary to visitors

    - Educate guests about the history, facts, and stories of the animals and rescue center

    - Ensure the safety and well-being of tour participants throughout the duration of the tour

    - Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions, concerns, and requests from tour participants

    - Communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals, including international tourists and individuals with varying levels of English proficiency

    - Lead tour groups efficiently, ensuring that all participants are accounted for and that the tour stays on schedule

    - Utilize public speaking skills to captivate and entertain tour participants while delivering information

    - Working with point of sale register and processing payments

    - Cleaning and restocking throughout the day, before opening and after closing

    - Job is exclusively outside, involves a lot of walking and talking.

    -Applicants must be willing to work in all weather conditions, season, holidays, and weekends.

    Requirements:

    - Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact positively with a wide range of individuals

    - Ability to follow all EFRC Safety Procedures and Covid-19 Vaccination required

    - Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to convey information clearly and concisely

    - Leadership abilities to guide and manage tour groups effectively

    - Proficient in time management to ensure tours run smoothly and adhere to scheduled timelines
